What happened
The first edition launched the Skills & Mentorship Programme. Over five days of the August school holiday, 150 youth across several age groups worked through five skill tracks while the character theme, Discovering My Identity, ran alongside them each day.
Six skilled trainers led the skill areas, supported by eight mentors — pastors, psychologists and Sunday-school teachers — who guided the character sessions. Each day carried a life-shaping theme: self-acceptance, healthy relationships, emotions management, decency and effective communication. The sessions were interactive and practical, and by the end of the week many youth showed greater confidence, stronger values and a clearer sense of identity.
This edition established GGF's model of nurturing both talent and character, and began our partnership with A.I.C. Ngong Hills, which has hosted every edition since. Feedback from learners, mentors and facilitators was overwhelmingly positive, with many asking for the programme to run more often.
