What happened
The fourth edition of the Skills & Mentorship Programme ran over five full days at our community hub in Ngong Hills, carrying the theme Emotional Health. It brought together 250 youth across eight skill tracks alongside daily character formation and mentorship.
The clearest evidence that the model works is progression. Youth who learned HTML, CSS and JavaScript in earlier editions moved on to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and media learners who first trained on cameras in 2025 provided the complete photographic coverage of this edition. Skills are not one-off exposures — they build, edition after edition.
Daily small-group sessions covered recognising and naming emotions, healthy coping, self-esteem and resilience, and navigating peer pressure and relationships. Learners were more open than in any previous edition, and the new separate boys' and girls' sessions for teenagers let them speak candidly in a safe space — a format we will keep and refine.
The week closed with a public showcase: songs performed, piano played, French and Spanish spoken, handcrafts and baked goods displayed, and personal stories shared. For many parents it was the first time they had watched their youth present with such confidence.
Skills delivered
Digital Literacy
From a coding foundation to practical productivity software — Word, Excel and PowerPoint — taught hands-on in the computer lab.

Music
Vocal training combined with hands-on piano practice, building on keyboard foundations from earlier editions.
Media
From students to practitioners — the media cohort planned and delivered full event coverage.
Baking
Cupcakes, vanilla cake and muffins from scratch under a professional facilitator — a skill with direct income potential.
Crochet & Handcrafts
Progressed into bags and creative pieces with real market value.
Sign Language
Kenyan Sign Language greetings, everyday vocabulary and finger-spelling, nurturing inclusive communicators.
